Trident - Three-leg Shunt Regulator
Trident Regulators in Testing
The Trident is single, hand built, ultra-low noise, three-pin shunt regulator. Designed specifically for the Buffalo-II,
we have been tweaking these in the Twisted Pear skunkworks for a while now. While the Buffalo's on-board linear regulators
deliver solid performance, the Tridents will help to squeeze that last drop of hifi juice.
We fix the voltage and shunting current of the modules at built time, but shunting current can optionally be user-customized with
a single through-hole resistor. Factory values are designed to work with the Buffalo DAC modules.
The AVCC shunt regulator module is similar to that of the Trident, but
uses a single voltage reference to drive two regulator outputs at 3.5VDC. This module was designed specifically for powering the analog sections
of the Buffalo-II and Buffalo-III DACs, and comes with the mounting hardware for that application.
The two Trident combinations for Buffalo DACs are the same, except for the mounting hardware is specific to the DAC module.
