That is with the relays engaged? Ok so keep track of the total current. We are already ~ 500ma

You should know for sure. :) But yes it sounds like you have the relays powered.

Now time to check the SPDIF4

sidecar.PNG (5kb) downloaded 34 time(s).

Supply 5.2V to pin 19 or 20 and GND to any of the pins marked GND

OK so you have established that you need something around ~550 ma 5.2V supply capability. You will want to plan for a bit more because when music is playing the current demand will be a bit more (especially for SPDIF4). So I would plan for at least 600ma, just make sure your supply has at least 100ma capacity above what you need in a static (no music playing) test.

Now lets start very simple putting things back - lets get the simplest possible setup working. Do not use anything (disconnect wires) on EXT-I/O header. Don't use a switch for sidecar. Don't put the controller back yet.

Just attach your PCM/DSD source via sidecar to the DAC (don't use a switch with the sidecar - just keep PCM/Selected by jumping VD to B on the sidecar. Don't attach or power the SPDIF4

You should also be able to add back in the Legato - but you could test without it first by using AC coupling caps directly at the DAC outputs.

When you do this you should get music and no offset from +/- DAC outputs to each other (measured before the caps).

Leave them alone - there is no controller for them to work with.

You are right, without playing music no DC offset between +- DAC output.

You should observe the same with DSD music input.

Yes - and you should place a jumper wire from VD to B on the sidecar (for now)

When you get back - make sure your VD supply is not sagging below 5.2V.
