Hi.
According to manual, I set DIP SWs on BIII as following:

SW1: All OFF
SW2: 1-2 ON. 3-8 OFF

I tried to feed Optical SPDIF signal to D1 -> D4 but still got no LOCK LED. Voltage to BIII and TOSLINK is 5.2V, shunted current (with TOSLINK) is 70mA. Voltage of Tridents are correct (3.27V and 1.27V), their position are fine. All LED (except LOCK) are lit.

Do you know how to check if TOSLINK is fine or not? I also want to try by feeding signal via SPDIF-4 but Ribbon cable connector already broken, could you show me how to wiring Vcc and GND from BIII to SPDIF-4?

Please help.

Thank you

I had a similar problem, which eventually was solved by increasing
VCC to the Toslink module to 7.5 V.

But really - you want to get that ribbon fixed, so you can use
the S/PDIF-4 Input board... ( make sure that you use the right resistor for the
Toslink input on the board)

Good luck

Thank you for sharing Hansen, may be I will try increasing VCC for Toslink first because shipping from America to Vietnam takes long time.

Hi, I tried by increase VCC to TOSLINK to 9.7V, OFF both DIP SW to OFF. Feeding Optical signal to D1-> D4 but got same problem, No LOCK.

Measured value on TOSLINK ouput is 251mV, is it normal?

Because of broken ribbon, can I test SPDIF manually by:

1. Supply VCC to SPDIF4 manually from Pin 1 (GND) and Pin 20 (VCC) of DIN to coresponding pins in SPDIF

2. Getting Coaxial SPDIF from A out (SPDIF) to D1 (BIII). I will not use Rotary SW and EXT_IO, should I have to change anything on BIII? I got jumpers J1-J12 are shorted, JPCM1->JPCM3 are open, JDSD1 and 2 also open

Please advise.

Is your TOSLINK module the newer version with voltage divider resistors on the output? If so, how do you have that set up?

How do you have the S/PDIF-4 module resistors configured?

Hi Brian,

My TOSLINK is Ver 1.1, I think it is a newest version with voltage divider. Attached picture is how resistor are allocated.

I don't have Source Selector, I intend to use SPDIF-4 as a single SPDIF and change manually between TOSLINK and COAXIAL. I follow manual and set resistors Rs/Rz accordingly.

Should I connect power supply to it as picture below?

One more thing, acidentally I swapped between 1.2V & 3.3V tridents. I found a similar case on forum but everything was fine after owner swapped tridents back. Is there any problem in my case, could you tell me how to check if there is?
Thank you

Hi
Why didn't you populate all the inputs with the resistors and T?

Hi Luis, just because I plan to use 01 input which is coaxial for this step. Rs & Rz of INA & INB are soldered under the board, resistor value follow manual fir 01 optical & 01 coaxial.

If you have the voltage divider installed on the TOSLINK module, you want to configure the S/PDIF Converter board for a consumer-level input (ala coax).

thanks 1 user thanked Brian Donegan for this useful post.

Oh I understand, so if I by pass voltage devider I can feed directly Optical signal to BIII. My first priority is to know my BIII has problem with Tridents swapped or not. If it is ok, I will continue with SPDIF4.
Thank you

Thank you very much Brian, after by passed voltage divider on TOSLINK, I could get LOCK LED and can hear the sound on one channel (this is because of my Legato), so lucky for me, my BIII still works even Tridents swapped.

My remaining job is check SPDIF-4 which also been swapped between pin 1 and 20 of ribbon cable by me. So Brian, can I provide 5.2VCC to pin 20 and GND to pin 1 of SPDIF-4? If not, pls tell me the pin I have to connect to. This manual action is because of my broken ribbon cable.

Thank you.
