Sorry if this is a stupid question, but the board has a circle around one through-hole seeming to indicate that the inductor should have an orientation. L1 itself has two bands around the skinny end. Does the banded skinny end go towards the circle on the board or other way around? Thanks!

The orientation doesn't matter. The circle on the silk is just to indicate that the inductor is mounted vertically.

PS: There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. :)

Hi,
May I ask you what kind of inductor exactly you use ?
Is a small RF choke (axial leads) appropriate or is it more of a power supply filter radial inductor ?
Thanks a lot
