hello folks
thought my two Buffalo II´s sounded so different:
one was focused and dynamic, the other was blurred with sort of out of focus ss and singer all over the place
upon closer examination I discovered that on the focused, precise dac the dipswitches were oriented with "on" towards the center of the board and the numbers toward the edge of the board
on the board with the out of phase like sound the orientation was opposite
on inspecting the photo of the dac on these pages it´s clear that the focused alternative with on towards the center of the pcb is correct
you´d better check your pcb´s guys and dolls!
best
Leif

Are you saying the dip switch was installed backwards, or just that the switches were switched?

it was installed backwards...ie wrong
so lots of people might have funny sounding dac´s if they follow the manual instead of their ears
thought you all should know

I agree it is worth checking if there is an issue, but it will the exception, not the rule... it should actually be pretty rare.

Thanks for letting us know.
