I'm very interested in using MODE 8X, but getting from I2S to the input format expected for that mode is a challenge. DSP software to upsample to 768k not a problem. Electronics side of going from I2S to oddball, parallel input scheme for MODE 8X confusing to me.

Has anyone used this mode? If not, any ideas on the interface challenge?

Thanks!

MODE8X is not normally used unless you are using some sort of external digital filter of effects chip. In other words, I would not even look at it unless you have a chip which can feed your DAC a suitable signal. :)

Quite right! A Blackfin DSP fits the bill and that was my plan. But interfacing between the 2 is not obvious to me.
