Would reversing the Power Supply leads on Metronome (+ to GND and GND to +) and then applying the power (7.5v), once, be likely to kill Metronome?

I am not willing to sacrifice one in order to try out the theory. :)

If you did it, and the metronome no longer works, then you have your answer.
