Hello,
I just had a metronome die and am wondering: would the new family of reclockers do better than a new metronome would do? Which parts exactly would I need to replicate a metronome and would it end up with any less jitter?
I am sure many people are wondering this.

Thanks,

I have a COD and S/PDIF input board.

After reading a few threads I have learned:
SPDIF is not easily reclocked with the new TP parts

I2S is not easily extracted from the Hermes w/o a cronus

SRC4192 uses almost as good of a crystal as the cronus but according my research the chip just isn't too good at jitter rejection

Please correct me if I have made any errors and let me know if these assumptions are correct

If you have Buffalo or any other DAC with ES9018, then the best way is IMHO feed SPDIF to DAC directly.

Hermes/Cronus is designed to I2S sources that can either accept Master Clock or that can be switched to slave mode. The SPDIF does not matches this usage scenario.

Another (very complicated) scenario would be following signal chain: SPDIF to I2S receiver -> feed I2S into BBB in asynchronous mode -> use software buffer received audio data -> play it to Hermes-BBB+Cronus+DAC

The last scenario might be supported later, but now it is really not.

Agree, for one ES9018 DAC to play SPDIF sources the easiest by far is a direct connection. For other DACs and more 'advanced' cases, the complicated scenario is perhaps simpler than other alternatives. So hopefully Miero will eventually grace us with I2S input capability for BBB. Dancing When the time comes I will work hard to optimize the function. Angel
