Just finished building HD power supply. Fine all light on.

However wired up Ready built opus dac and receiver. The 4 led on receiver all non lit. Checked voltage supply and this is at 7.5 volts for both sac and receiver. Will take photos soon and post.

My first dac build but not my first venture with a hot soldering iron. Although with my eyes i,m better with a big board and tag boards on a valve amp. My 60 year old Radford STA15 is still going strong after a two rebuilds by me.

Welcome any support/advise.

Is the 7.5v measured with the DAC and WM8804 connected ?

Photos - yes.

no. I measured the voltage before connecting the regulated power supply. I adjustable them to 7.5 volts before connect to the DAC and WM8804. The regulated supply are from a company called. Avondale audio. http://avondaleaudio.com/TPR2.html
I haves used them before on other circuits with no issue. Do I need to connect to DAc and WM8804 and adjust again to read 7.5 volts on the terminals.

I also have a big LAB power supply which can be switched to 7.5 volts (1.5 amps) if current is an issue.

Sorry, I can't follow you.

How is your power supply arrangement arranged ;-)

Picture, please.

Is the TPR2 between the Placid HD and the DAC/receiver?

Have you followed the adjustment procedure for the Placid HD regarding shunt current?

Sorry been out of circulation for a long time. Lost my job, got a new job been uber buzzy.

Anyways I hope I can get some help with my project.

I now have LIGHT ON as follows.

Trans err.. Green light on
UNlock ....Red light on
NON audio.. Green light on
Gen Flag.. No light at all.

The dip switches are set for SPDIF in and I have fed a digital signal from two different CD players (Linn Genki and an old marantz) with no change in the lights. Voltage to power measures 7.5 volts.

Help please

There are no situations where one of the LEDs should not be lit. There is something wrong with the board.

I picture would help.

S/PDIF input signal and ground are reversed.

Also, it is better to not twist the I2S lines together, though that is not related to this problem.

As for the LED, my guess is dead LED or bad solder joint on one of its pins.

many thanks. will check out led tomorrow.

The spdif has been tried both ways round just in case I had a problem at the other end of the lead. I will put it back to the correct way round.

Fingers crossed it works

resoldered led now working. Also reversed spdif connection.

Also checked other solder joints on connection blocks and they seem fine.

However I now have lights as follows.
TRAN ERR green
Unlock Red
Non audio green
gen flag red.

This can happen if a source is sending LPCM instead of PCM over SPDIF. What is your source? And what kind of stream are you sending?

Source is a CD player Linn Genki. I also tried a marantz cd player with no change to light status. Ultimately I wish to use the SPDIF output from a SONOS player. The lights stay the same irrespective of whether a source is plugged in or not. Have I set the dip switches correctly. I think I have but see picture .

Regards

Phil

Appreciate a response. Noting other threads I may well have a faulty reciever board (replacement needed ?)

I think your DIP switches are reversed. Try 1 0 0 1. In the picture they are 0 1 1 0.

EDIT: + - - + instead of - + + -

Changed dips as advised.

I now have lights as follows.
TRAN ERR Red (was green)
Unlock green (was red)
Non audio red (was green)
gen flag green was red)

Should all lights be green ?

Fed from both marantz cd player and also linn Genki player SPDIF out with no change to light status.

Still struggling to get a squeak out of the thing.
I don't have a scope but do have a multi-meter. Is there anything i can measure in terms of voltage.
I checked the digital lead from the cd player and this is good (ohms) no shorts and both leads intact.

You still get no I2S output?

Is it possible you have some of the LEDs installed backwards (Red ones)? You can check the voltage at each LED, looking for + or - voltages (reversing polarity changes color).

Have all green lights now .. But when I measure voltage across each led I get.

Trans error 2 v
unlock -2v (was red the other way round
non audio 2 v
gen flag -2 v. (was red the other way round)

Is this correct.

Is there any voltages I can measure from the transceiver to the dac or from the dac to indicate I have some audio signal.

Regards

Equal voltage direction is what you are looking for, so it seems the Unlock and GenFlag leds are now backwards )-2V should be red).
