Noisy Teleporters? - Are Teleporters susceptible to appliances/lights switching on and off?

Since installing the teleporters (which otherwise sound wonderful) my system has been prone to disturbing spikes that cause the protection on the amps to trigger - mainly caused by switching on/off lights, appliances etc.

Mostly, turning on a light etc can cause the system to mute (is this a teleporter function?), but occasionally it appears to be sending dangerous digital data to the DAC which maxes out the amps.

I was already tapping into the I2S signal without such issues pronounced previously.

Any ideas?

You may need to connect the GNDs between the source and the destination teleporters.

You may also want to try shielded cat5.

Thanks Russ,

However, I was hoping to avoid connecting Gnds in this instance as it means the GND filth from my PC AND digital Xover will be pumped into the DAC (the Teleporters made an audible improvement that I am attributing to ground isolation).

Will HCPL-09xx CMOS digital isolators work with the Teleporter perchance?

Sure. If using shielded CAT5 you need not necessarily connect the shield on both ends. Just the DAC end is what I would try first.

To be clear - if the GND potential of the source and the destination is more than a volt or so you should make sure they are the same. :)
