From the LM4780's datasheet:

"In the typical application of the LM4780 as a split-supply audio power amplifier, the IC exhibits excellent “click”
and “pop” performance when utilizing the mute mode"


But the Sympatico comes hardwired with muting off, and I get significant power off/on noise

Anyone tried this to reduce power off/on pops by modding the Sympatico to enable muting on power on/off? There is a resistor marked 'RM' that could be removed to make muting switchable.
