Hello,
My placid hd-bipolar has steady negative voltage of 14.75v. The positive voltage, however fluctuates between 12.5v and 13.5v..
The CCS current is the same for both + and - at around 470mA and the negative shunts 50 mA but the positive shunts 59 mA.

Is this normal or is something off? I’m using fixed resistors in the VR2 spots. I believe they used to be equal at 14.75 v each.

Thanks,
Doug

Sounds like a cold solder joint. Weak and intermittent connection.

Try adding a little flux and reflowing the joints on the misbehaving side.

Can you post a picture?

Brian,
I will add that the system works and is powering the ivy3 with no stuttering in the music. Is that likely or possible with a loose joint?
Anyway, I guess I will re-solder and see what happens. Would you like picture of top side , bottom or both?
Thanks,
Doug

Bottom side.

If you are getting 12-13V, the IVY should still work, but I would try to not use it until the fluctuations are fixed.

Brian,
Thanks for your help and,as usual, quick response. It turned out to be a fragile/fractured trace on the underside between QP3 and C2A.
I was reviewing picture before I sent, and zoomed in and there it was!
Working fine now.

Thanks,
Doug
