I am keen to do a Buffalo III build and would like to know if there is any way of having the built in volume on the Buff follow the PC volume settings . I am trying to go for a single remote solution. I use CEC to allow control over my Kodi media centre, so one remote can control the PC, TV and Sat decoder.

Thanks
Chris

You would need either software attenuation or a custom driver to send I2C to the DAC for configuration.

The other option is to create a controller that can decode your remote signals.

Thanks. How much of a downside is there to software attenuation? I like the custom driver idea but might be a stretch for me.

Not as much as you might think. Try it and see how you like it.

These guys claim to have modded the xmos firmware to do precisely what I wanted. If the ES9018K2M commands are the same as the ES9018 could that be a solution? (the USB to I2S connected to Buff III)

Unfortunately they don't have the same registers or configuration needs - but if you are keen to program and they give the source code it could easily be modified to do it.
