I’ve been running an IVY 3 with Opus/Volumite directly into my power amp for a while now and have been pretty impressed with the sound. I’ve used a linear Reg to power it and have it configured pretty much as the manual has outlined.

I’ve been impressed enough to want to try an IVY 3 with my buffalo 3 in my main system as I’m using a Legato 3.1 at the moment. Just out of curiosity I guess.

OK the question

I’ll be using a single Placid BP HD to power the new IVY3 and was wondering about those PSU decoupling caps C15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20.

I’ve read that shunt PSU are not always happy with capacitive loads on their output so was wondering if it would be safe to leave these out of my upcoming IVY 3 build.

Anyone tried this? Does it make any difference sound wise?

I’m really enjoying both of these DAC’s so thanks for the time and effort that you’ve put in to designing them.
