Apologies in advance for the lack of technical knowledge. Having constructed the DAC, it appears to be running perfectly. I have been monitoring the current and voltage from the power supplies and making minor adjustments. The power supplies do not appear to be getting too warm which is reassuring. However, one of the components on the 1.2v trident regulator is significantly hotter than any of the other similar components. In the image below, on the 1.2v regulator there are 2 black, largish components. The one nearest to the AVCC board becomes hot very soon after switch on. By hot I mean that it is very uncomfortable to touch for more than about 2 seconds.

This is in contrast to other similar components on both the dac PCB, other tridents and power supplies, which just become warm.

Is this normal, or if not, could you point me in the right direction to try to troubleshoot this.

Many thanks,

Perfectly normal. It is a shunt regulator.
