Hi Guys,
A couple of quick questions if I may regarding a build that I am *finally* getting round to doing.
I am in the process of building a dual mono Buff II / Legato II setup. Fully balanced into a balanced pre.
I can miss out the buffer stage as the pre has an input of 11k ohms, and I would like to run at an output voltage of around 2 or 3 volts., so will run with the appropriate resistor combo as indicated.

I have sourced some Supertex Mosfets to replace the BS250's, but in the 'construction options' it states ''Omit QN7-QN14, R25-R28" Then place a jumper between pad QN8, QN10, QN12, QN13.
My boards are Legato 2.0.0, & I cannot for the life of me find QN7 -QN14, nor where to put the link?
I also assume I just place a jumper in place of each R25-R28.
My boards clearly show QN1-QN6 (on the balanced output sides) do I jumper these?

I am not populating the bal to se section as I only intend to use the XLR outputs.

There is no diagram showing the wiring out to the XLR with Dual Legato, only in IVY III, and that runs from the SE outputs to the balanced XLR?
Could someone point me in the direction of how to do this correctly please.

Thanks for any help.

Can I bump this up please - thanks to AVR I have the answer to question 1, but I'm still searching the answer to the wiring diagram for balaced xlr output on dual mon without bal/se conversion in place (legato II)

Any pointers on this would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Steve.

I really would like to help you - if only I could.

Since the L2 is more or less identical to the L3, the wiring must be the same. Have you looked into the Integration Guide By LeonB.

http://www.twistedpearau...gration_Guide_V1.2.1.pdf

Perhaps it's covered in there. (I haven't read it, so I really don't know).

Wiring the XLR from the balanced output is the same regardless of if you use SE output.

Pin 1 GND
Pin 2 Out +
Pin 3 Out -

Hi Russ,
Thank you for taking the time to reply - it is appreciated.
Just to be clear - I am using two legato boards, and the wiring diagram from the IVY III dual mono shows pins 1 & 2 taken from opposite sides of the board.
I do not want to mess up absolute phase here - hence I do not want to make any assumptions.
So for the left chanel xlr output I will take OUT+ from the left hand side of the board and OUT- from the right hand side of the board.
For the Right hand output I will take OUT+ from the right hand side of the board and the OUT- from the lefthand side of the board.
I take it this is what is required - or have I managed to get that completely incorrect?

I am not sure I am following what you are trying to do. If you want to use Two legatos for dual mono you would use the BAL/SE stages on both to correctly create the balanced signal.

If you like you can use just one Legato and use both sides of each BII while inverting the side that is not selected. What I mean is for the DAC selected as the left channel you would take the left side normally and the right side OUT- would be wired to IN+ on the legato - and OUT+ to IN-. The opposite would be true for the DAC selected as the right channel.

This approach only requires one Legato.

If you want to use two Legatos you would keep the BAL/SE stages intact as per the manual.

Hello Russ,
I thank you for that answer - it is exactly what I needed to know, plus another alternative.
Best regards.
Steve.

HOLD THE PHONE! The link is back up working on TP's site that shows the wiring for dual mono with IVY.
I'm sure Legato is the same.

"dualmono_BIIandIVYIII.pdf"

Excellent. I can't wait to get this hooked up!

/Mike

Another question for Russ or Leon?

I'm still really UNclear about this dual mono balanced output wiring with
two legatos. I see links to what used to be a wiring diagram for dual mono
with Ivy on the TP site are down. Maybe being revised? Anyhow I think
it's this phase / anti-phase deal that has me confused. So I have a R and
L channel and Legato board and I'll be using the SE / balse output
according to Russ, but how to wire? I take the SE signal from each side
or the SE and ground from each side, which signal will be the '+' and which
the minus for each board? Do I combine the grounds from each side on
the balanced line out?

It's probably me making a simple thing much harder than it really is.

Sorry I'm so slow.....

/Mike
