Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to insert an attenuator (joshua tree) somewhere in the legato so that you could get variable output to the line part of the legato with a COD dac.

Hmmm. well theoretically yes. But i have never tried it.

What you could do if you were using only the SE output of the legato would be to lift the input side of the resistors at the BAL/SE stage and inject the JT in front of it. But that would only work for single ended output. This would also take some value fiddling on the JT to compensate for the impedance into it.

It would be much simpler with IVY3. You would simply put a JT between the first and second stage of each half after removing the first series resistors that form the low pass filter. The JT itself would then provide that impedance since it is almost constant 750R. That solution would work quite well.

Well I was planning on running dual mono. Then the se output is mono balanced output right?
Will the headphone buffer also become a mono balanced output then?

I am not sure whether I will use dual legato`s or dual Ivy`s yet. I may end up bying both. I allready have one legato 3.1 w.buffers so the cost is lower with one additional legato, but I was planning on bying a set of ivy`s at some point anyways.

Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to testing this out.

Got the COD`s the other day. They will be running with a single legato2 for the moment. I am going to tap the i2s from a matrix mini-i up until I get a proper TPA module.
