We are trying to find a solution to get these things built a bit quicker. We are sorry that demand seems to have outpaced our capacity. We really are trying to rectify that.

Not really possible because the critical parts are not available through hole.

Any idea when the next batch of Tridents will be available?

Guys, you should consider offering Buffalo and Tridents as SMD kits. This would help alleviate the availability issue.
For example, Buffalo could come with the hard parts (DAC chip and clock?) pre-soldered and the rest of the parts in bags, like the rest of the kits.
This version would be offered at, I suppose, a somewhat lower price with the debugging/support being at your discretion (with no obligation on your part).

I'm sure a lot of people can solder SMD or know someone who can do it for them (not to mention I consider it more fun than dealing with through-hole components).

Its actually harder to make up kits than it is to get the modules assembled. :)

Would it be safe to assume that the Trident will NOT be available in time for the upcoming preorder of the Buffalo II? Will they be available in time for the shipment of the next preorder?
