So, Russ and I were trying to be conservative with our first Opus order, in case they did not sell well. We blew through that order much faster than expected. Also, we have decided to go with only pre-assembled and tested modules, so will be using mostly SMD components on the boards when re-ordered. This way I can reflow solder most of the parts in one shot.

We will be switching from the Panasonic mini resistors to Vishay/Dale 1% SMD, which we have used on the Joshua Tree with great results. Also, instead of the Wima film caps, we will be using MuRata ceramics (C0G 5%). The datasheets actually spec ceramics. We will be sticking with the same through hole OSCONs for the output caps, so they can by used, bypassed, changed-out or other wise tweaked as desired.

Our next board order will be a large one: Opus Receiver, Opus DAC, Opus USB, Balanced->SE converter, a new split rail PS for the converter (same board dimensions as the rest of the Opus boards). Russ is hoping to get the order in early next week. 3-4 weeks after that we will be shipping again.

Great news! Will it be the new Wolfson receiver, or still the old one?
