I just acquired four original Aleph-X boards and am planning to build them as two separate stereo amps. I only have single ended sources but have been told I will require a balanced line driver/converter. What are my choices with the following scenarios:

I am considering gutting a Pioneer SA-9500-II for the chassis and repurposing its many switches to enable phase changing and a DAC. I'm hoping to keep its phono stage and all its switches and pots but will be removing its 50V dual mono power supply in favor of an external power supply.

You should be fine to use the "Twisted X Driver" you will need need 12V rails to feed it so I would recommend using the LCPS with a dual secondary transformer.

To get a balanced signal from single ended you would connect -IN and GND, and feed the SE signal in through +IN.

The output signal will always be balanced with balanced or single ended input so long as the other input is tied to GND.

You can configure the TXD for unity gain, or any gain you like. I would probably use a gain of 6db(2X) which (depending on your attenuator) should suit you AXs very well. :)

Cheers!

The TXD will ship with resistors that will allow two gain options: 1x (0dB) and 4x (12dB). Other gains can be configured by swapping out resistors.
