Probably a good idea to solder those resistors not next to each other: middle resistor elevated or on the other side of the board, giving more space for the heat to dissipate and avoid the resistors from heating each other...

Hi

I think the resistors are responsible for the crackling, but only because- I suggest!- the leads were bent too close to the end caps before mounting. Always best to hold the lead out wire with thin nosed pliers, close to the resistor body, before bending the lead. Otherwise the end caps may be damaged. This may not show up immediately, but only after some time, particularly if the resistor is running signifcantly hotter than ambient temperature.

Does this explanation satisfy everyone's honour? :-)

Sure it is not very hard to mechanically damage a resistor.

Thanks glt and Paul N.

There has been no mechanical damage to those resistors, and they has been mounted exactly as glt prescribed.

I have the same problem (crackling/pop noise from the left channel). It starts during playback especially when playing HD music. It has nothing to do with Legato since it is present with IVY installed as well. I guess it is coming from Sidecar or 4-Channel SPDIF kit. When the cracking starts I pause the music for a milisecond and back to play - the noise is gone. Anyway, I'll try to check those kits first.

Problem solved when Sidecar powered 4.3v from another regulator (220v AC here in Russia).
