I am thinking about building a Sympatico, and using it where I would like to switch between a balanced and single ended input. Balanced is from my audio source, and single ended is for HT.

Would this work? For HT, I can give up a little fidelity.

the short answer is yes you can make it work, but here is the requirement:

1) For balanced input you have +in, gnd , -in.
2) For SE input you connect -in to gnd and run the input to +in.

So for #1 you wire the XLR as usual. For #2 you need a way to switch -in to GND.

This could be done with a switch or a relay. There are a lot of creative solutions.

Cheers!
