Hello,
I`m just about installing my teleporters and wondered about jumper J1, where the two FSEN-pins of the receiver-chip could be grounded.
Since I didn`t find something in the integration guide, I looked at the datasheet and recognized, that there are two selectable receiving types (modes).
Seems that the teleporters are factory-configurated as type two, which has some offset as failsafe implementation.
According to the datasheet, this type does induce reasonable more jitter.
Wouldn`t it be better to switch to type 1 by connecting the jumper J1 to ground?
Is this correct and are there any drawbacks by doing this - or is this jumper mean`t to do something else?

There is no appreciable difference in terms of signal timing at all (in terms of phase noise). Just the DC state. :)

Which is "better" will depend on what you like best, and your priorities.

We leave J1 open precisely so people can easily choose between the two modes. All you need to is create a solder bridge or apply a small value resistor or jumper. :)

It was a comment from you, that made me think about it.
In a diyaudio-thread where you introduced the teleporters you stated, that pulse skew, which should be the major cause of jitter, is only about 55ps.
From the datasheet I recognized, that this is true only for type 1 configuration. Type 2 typically results in more than eight times (475ps) this amount!
But I really don`t know, if this as an influence at all, since the ES9018 with a clean clock in asynchronous mode should clean up this jitter.

I`ll try both and listen, if I hear any difference...

Really it comes down to choice, because there are other factors to consider. :)

This way you have your options open.
