I have my volume pot hooked up to the DAC left
channel per the instructions on p. 28 of the guide.
On the R. channel DAC there is nothing on the ADC
connector. Is it necessary to jump PB4 to power or
ground? I have no sound out of that (right) channel.
I was hoping the problem was something that easy!?
I wired balanced outputs per this but I'm using a
Legato 3.1 with Buffalo 3.

I was going to attach the .pdf of the "dualmono_BII and IVYII.pdf"
as that's how I'm wired but I can't attach a .pdf. Anyhow
it's right here on the site.

Audio sounds pretty sweet from that left channel, BTW.

Thank you, LeonvB, and thank you for your superb guide
without which I'd never have gotten anywhere. I configured per your
instructions for dual mono and since with no firmware in place
and no other mention of it I figured I would be fine leaving those
(ADC) connections empty.

AFAIK, I have everything on the switches at default for dual mono.

Left channel DAC
SWT 1

all off

SWT 2

1- off
2-off
3-on
4-off
5-off
6-off
7-off
8-on but I've tried on and off both here. I do have a side car but
no I2C source to feed it yet. The I2C cable is in place with everything
wired across but the 3.3 v.

I'll double check that cable for continuity next.

Right channel DAC with no firmware has all switches off but they are
ignored in any case.

Next I'm going to check continutity across all of the
jumpers installed on the R. Chan. DAC without firmware.
Those jumpers are in place but I'm going to triple-check
everything.

Hi Amaro - that right DAC is *supposed* to be getting
signal via the I2C buss from the left DAC. At least that's the
way I thought it worked. For dual mono. I just swapped
legatos between the two and I still only get left channel audio.

I'm having a real hard time believing the problem is with the
Buffalo on the R. channel, and not something else I've overlooked.

I just checked all of the J1-J12 jumpers on both DACs as well
as the J7 and ADD jumper on both DACs.

I guess the next step will be configure the R. chan. DAC as left
and see if it plays.

Can someone confirm that balanced out wiring is correct on
the .pdf labeled 'dualmono_BIIandIVYIII.pdf'? Even though these are
Buffalo III's I figured this would be the same. I have:

Left balanced output:

Left_SE out to pin 2 xlr
Right_SE out to pin 3 xlr
GND next to R_SE to pin 1 (this I moved from the GND post at R_IN2
after Russ said not to worry about it)


Right bal output:

Left_SE out to Pin 3 xlr
Right_SE out to Pin 2 xlr
GND next to Left_SE to Pin 1 xlr

AFAIK, this should be correct. I'd upload the .pdf but it's too large to attach
and it's on the TP site anyhow.

LeonvB - on the 'Preparing the board - first steps'
is where I read to connect PB4 to 3.3V pin on the ADC
connector if you didn't want to use the volume control.

So if the vol. ctl is on the left dac, you still need nothing
on the R. dac since w/o firmware all ADC connections
can be empty? Just to double-check.....

Also the lock and mute LEDs are entirely optional and
have no other role in the circuit? (I have them wired
to the left ch. dac - r. chan is empty).

Hi Amaro! It finally sank into my thick skull that I indeed need
to run another input to the other DAC! LeonvB assured me it
would work MUCH better that way!!

I must be getting older than I thought....
