Hi Russ/Brian,

I am in the process of ordering a case from Hifi 2000 and I was wondering whether you guys can talk about the options for the display with the AC1. Since I finished one Arduino for my DAC I was thinking of replicating that for the box I am currently building but with the release of the AC1 being imminent :-), I am considering to go that route.

Are you planning to bundle the display with the kit or is that a replaceable option. I happen to have a Newhaven NHD-0420E2Z-NSW-BBW and wonder whether I can use.

I basically need to know for the cutouts on the case.

Cheers

Thomas

Yes you will be able to. But be prepared that you may need to modify the firmware a bit to take full advantage.

AC1 will support any 4bit LCD or SPI serial display but may require some firmware modifications to adapt.

Thanks Russ that is great news. I just worked my way through the 8bit Atmel. Which MCU are you planning to use?

Unless ESS releases the information to ALL I2C registers I want to be on the safe side with the controller so the AC1 seems to be the safest bet.

This box will also have a USB interface. Is it correct to assume that the AC1 is a seperate board or are you planning to use the spare controller cycles on the new USB board?

Cheers

Thomas
